Happy Labor Day!

The dignity of labor depends not on what you do, but how you do it.      Edwin Osgood Grover

Hard work and determination never fail…it may just succeed in way we did not anticipate! I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day!

Tim Ferriss

If you haven’t heard of Tim Ferriss, here’s a quick primer: He’s the author of The 4-Hour Workweek, a book published in 2007 that offers advice on how you can trim the fat off your workday and, through a series of prioritizations, determination, and outsourcing, theoretically end up being able to log a four-hour week.

While the prospect of actually being able to pull that off is a bit iffy, Ferriss’s book, perhaps unsurprisingly, has become tremendously popular over the better part of a decade. To date, it’s sold over 1.3 million copies across the globe. But Ferriss had no way of knowing this would ever be the case.

It turns out that the first 25 publishers Ferriss contacted about his book said no. According to the Harvard Business Review, the 26th publisher said yes not because they loved the concept of the book, but because they believed Ferriss would do everything within his power to make sure it sold.

As demonstrated, persistence and determination pay off.

Seven Dangers to Human Virtue…Our Stewardship

7 Dangers to Human Virtue

Human Virtues – I think they go hand in hand with stewardship. I returned from my near death experience with the concept of stewardship deeply embedded in my heart. I realize now in ways that I did not realize prior to my near death experience how vitally important our stewardship called life truly is. I came across the seven dangers to human virtue today and my eyes lit up! Somebody out there gets it! I love this list. For me, it is like including a subheading with the Golden Rule. Work, conscience, character, ethics, humanity, sacrifice, and principles are vital to the well being of our lives and our world!

Missed Opportunities…

missed opportunities cow-pasture-animal-almabtriebI enjoyed creating today’s meme! I also appreciate the work ethic example that Thomas Edison provided to mankind. He certainly wasn’t afraid of work and he wasn’t afraid of failing! The ability to work is such a gift! Lessons learned from  failure are also gifts! I hope as we head into the weekend that you and I will reflect on this last week and all of the gifts that were provided to us through our experiences and the strength that was lent to us by the Lord! Have a Great Weekend!
